NGO considers over 900 people as political prisoners in Belarus

The Spring human rights center of Belarus has recognized 12 people as political prisoners, bringing the number of the Spring’s political prisoners to 907, DW’s Russian service reported.
However, 15 other organizations that help such people, think that the number exceeds 1,000. In late October, when 833 people were included in the Spring’s list, they had already counted 1,021 political prisoners in Belarus. The Belarusian authorities deny the existence of political prisoners in the country. President Alexander Lukashenko claims that there are no political prisoners in Belarus.
