The Investigation Department of Armenia’s National Security Service continues the preliminary investigation of the abuse of power and other wrongdoings by top Ministry of Defense officials in connection with the procurement of  supplies for the Armed Forces.

Former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan, who held the positions in 2018-2020, and the CEO of the supplier company, David Galstyan, have been arrested, the NSS said in a statement.

They have been charged of embezzling about US $4.7 million.

On September 29, Tonoyan’s apartment was searched.
