The ceasefire in the east of Ukraine has been violated again. Ukraine said one serviceman was killed there on Tuesday. The Russian authorities opened a criminal case yesterday in connection with the shooting of the village of Dokuchask. According to media reports, two civilians were injured there, euronews reported. Meanwhile, Washington has promised to fully fulfill its security commitment to Ukraine. This was confirmed on Monday by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is carried out by the Normandy group, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France. Russia and Ukraine signed a ceasefire protocol in Minsk in 2014, and in 2015 again in Minsk, at the level of the leaders of the Normandy group, signed a “Second Minsk Agreement” that provides for a political solution, which was later approved by the UN Security Council.
More than 13,000 people have been killed in hostilities in Donbas since April 2014.
