01.09.2021 | 16:03The leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are personally involved in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict; it’s not a one-day job, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on Wednesday, Sputnik reported.
Lavrov underscored “Moscow’s decisive role” in establishing a ceasefire in November last year. “There are agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021. It is not a one-day job, it is done by the leaders of the three countries, as well as our military, which is part of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno Karabakh. They are working to reduce tensions and build trust,” he said.
Lavrov added that the Russian border guards are helping their Armenian allies to solve the problems with the Azerbaijani neighbors. As for the relations between Yerevan and Moscow, according to Lavrov, the development of bilateral economic cooperation “is moving forward quite confidently.”
“Armenia is our ally. Yesterday the new foreign minister was with us, we had good negotiations. We have a very rich bilateral agenda: exchange of visits, implementation of major projects, development of economic cooperation. All this is going on very intensively and confidently,” he said.
