“At the moment the situation is relatively calm,” Vardenis Mayor Aram Melkonyan told Factor.am as of 10:30. According to the latter, the shooting started in Sotk, then continued in the direction of Verin Shorzha. According to the Ministry of Defense, as a result of the skirmish, as of 08:30, the Armenian side has three victims, one missing and two wounded. The wounded are currently in Gegharkunik garrison hospital.
“The lives of the wounded are not in danger, the situation is stable,” Melkonyan said.
At around 03:40, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces once again resorted to provocation, violating the ceasefire in the north-eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. “Before the talks in Moscow the enemy launched pre-emptive hostilities on the borders of the Republic of Armenia, from Sotk to Verin Shorzha. The enemy is trying to improve its bases, creating favorable conditions for advancement. The Armenian Armed Forces subdivisions are fulfilling their combat tasks, defending their positions, not allowing the enemy to advance,” the official statement of the Ministry of Defense reads.
