Russia increases number of warships in Black Sea as NATO drill continues
Russia has increased the number of its warships in the Black Sea as the NATO exercises continue. I has added the “Moscow” missile cruiser “Admiral Essen” with “Caliber” cruise missiles.
“The flagship Moscow and the frigate Essen, are crossing the Dardanelles-Bosphorus Strait,” the Russian Navy said on Monday, DW reported. “After arriving in Sevastopol, the ships will replenish material resources, carry out planned technical inspections, and continue to carry out tasks as provided for in the Naval Forces Combat Readiness Plan,” the Navy said in the statement.
Large Sea Breeze exercises are currently underway with the participation of ships from the United States, other NATO member states and their partners. They include 32 warships from 17 NATO member states, 40 aircraft, 5,000 servicemen, as well as allies of the alliance. In total, military personnel from 32 countries are expected to participate.
