The current situation should not called an incident, Azerbaijani troops are not leaving the sovereign territory of Armenia: Armen Grigoryan to Stanislav Zas
The secretary of the Armenian National Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, has had a telephone conversation with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas.
“At the beginning of the conversation, the CSTO Secretary General congratulated the Armenian Government on the success in theJune 20 early parliamentary elections. Then I expressed my concern over some formulations and assessments made in his June 3, 2006 statement. I am convinced that the current situation cannot be described as an incident, as it has been a long time that Azerbaijani troops are not leaving Armenia’s sovereign territory. Taking into account that Azerbaijan’s actions obvious attempt to occupy a part of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, I once again stressed the need for restraint in the negotiations with the CSTO Secretariat in order not to jeopardize the constructive efforts to resolve the situation. At the end of the conversation, I emphasized that in order to get acquainted with the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, it is expedient to organize a visit of the CSTO Secretariat to the site, “Armen Grigoryan wrote on his Facebook page.
Earlier, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas has said that the escalation of the situation in southern Armenia is to the establishment of a new border with Azerbaijan, and that it is simply a border incident, and cannot trigger actions from the CSTO.
