29.12.2021 | 19:07The commission on delimitation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan may be established in the near future, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko has said in an interview with RIA Novosti. He reminded that on November 26, in Sochi, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to set up a bilateral commission on delimitation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the consulting support of Russia.
“We assume that it will happen soon. We do not see an insurmountable obstacle on the way to the implementation of this agreement,” Rudenko said.
He noted that Russia has acted as a mediator since the beginning of the aggravation of the situation in certain parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in May, offering its assistance in launching a corresponding negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I should mention that the incidents have no direct connection with the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers. The problem is inherited from Soviet times and is due to the lack of international legal registration along the entire state border between the two countries,” Rudenko said.
Since May 12, Azeri troops have invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and refuse to leave.
