25.03.2021 | 12:10The Olympic torch relay has started in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, which will pass through all 47 prefectures and will end in Tokyo, where the opening of the Summer Olympic Games is scheduled for July 23, BBC Russian Service reports. The first torchbearers are the players of the Japanese women’s national football team, and more than 10 thousand people will take part in the relay. The ceremony was attended by a limited number of participants due to coronavirus restrictions. It was opened by Hashimoto Seiko, the President of the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, who was appointed to this position in late February. It should be reminded that the Tokyo Olympics were supposed to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020, but were postponed for a year due to the epidemic.
