“We have known for some time now that Armenia has applied to Russia to create an opportunity to start a dialogue through its mediation. It was predictable that a conversation would take place with the participation of representatives of Armenia and Turkey. There was a communication in the regional 3 + 2 format,” Maria Karapetyan, a member of the National Assembly’s Civil Contract faction, told Factor.am, when asked to comment on appointing representatives by the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
“We have to talk to our neighbors, even to debate or express our positions, we cannot constantly mediate or speak through the media. There must be a direct connection in order to be able to demand clarifications, corrections of positions. Opening embassies in Ankara and Yerevan is a matter of the future,” she said.
