NGO lawyers file complaints with ECHR in connection with Armenian captives case

01.12.2021 | 12:38Helsinki Civil Association’s Vanadzor Office lawyers Arayik Zalyan and Ani Chatinyan have filed applications to the European Court of Human Rights earlier this year on the cases of three servicemen captured during the 2020 Karabakh war.
The ECHR did not take urgent measures, but at the request of the Court major complaints were filed. In addition to the complaints filed in connection with the cases of people captured after the war, a complaint was also filed in 2021.
The case of a serviceman captured during the hostilities against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on November 16, 2012, by which the ECHR made a decision on urgent application. The lawyers of the HCA Vanadzor Office filed a complaint to the ECHR for violating the right of a family member of a war prisoner to refrain from ill-treatment, arguing that he had spent months researching videos published on Azerbaijani websites looking for his son.
