11.11.2021 | 12:29Azerbaijan has informed Armenia that customs checkpoints have been installed on the Goris-Kapan road, which has passed under Azerbaijani control; Armenia will take similar measures, the secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, has told the Public TV.
He said that the Kapan-Tatev alternative road is ready. Both passenger vehicle and trucks can cross this road safely. Grigoryan called this route the best road in the last 15 years.
“It should be noted that at the moment road construction works are being carried out to improve the roads leading to Shurnukh, Vorotan and Chakaten communities. In that sense, there will be no problem, the government will take all steps to avoid any social and political problems. Those roads will be asphalted in the near future, ” he added.
With regard to the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” he said that Armenia maintains its position and that no issue of corridor is discussed.
“By and large, there has been no serious change in this agenda since November. All the issues under discussion are discussed in the logic that the opened infrastructures will be under the sovereign control of the given state,” Grigoryan said.
He praised the possibility for Armenia to use Azerbaijan’s infrastructure, noting that the working group is currently discussing the issue of cargo transportation via Yerevan-Tbilisi-Baku, and from there to Russia or other countries.
“In this regard, we will continue to be constructive, we will continue to work in the trilateral dimension, so that all the points mentioned in the statements of November 9 and January 11 become a reality, the region will be unblocked,” he concluded.
