Lavrov says Ukraine trying to get Russia in military actions

01.11.2021 | 16:12The Ukrainian government is trying to create a provocative situation in Donbas to involve Russia in war, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said today in an interview with Russia 24, published by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“Yes, the aggravation is obvious. Attempts are being made to create provocative events, to provoke a response from the international community, to involve Russia in some military operations,” Lavrov said. He called the reports on the use of Bayraktar drones in the south-east of Ukraine a “mysterious story.”
“The commander of the Ukrainian armed forces announces that those weapons have been used, and the Minister of Defense says that no such thing has happened. I think now they are arguing over which is more favorable for them ․ To show that they are ‘strong’ that they have already started bombing, in gross, direct violation of the Minsk agreements, or to say that they are still fulfilling the Minsk agreements and offer to gather in a ‘Normandy format,'” he said.
Answering the question about the prospects of convening a ministerial meeting on a “Normandy format”, Lavrov underscored that they do not need a “meeting for the sake of a meeting.”
