27.10.2021 | 21:14President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has visited Lida Central Regional Hospital, where patients with COVID-19 are being treated. Here, he said that Belarus will not have “Western” vaccines, as “people vaccinated with them will be able to travel freely to the West,” Currenttime TV reported.
“We do not have foreign vaccines in our country, except for Sputnik and the Chinese vaccine. But these vaccines are not worse. They are telling us, “Bring Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, etc.” Why should [people] get vaccinated, get a passport and go there to their relatives? Go to the West to get instructions, that’s what they need. Go there and get vaccinated there. And we are buying foreign vaccines, which have proven to be much better than the Western ones,” Lukashenko said.
Alexander Lukashenko also announced that in 2023 Belarus will develop its own vaccine, “adapted to the 2023 variant.
