“The situation in Syunik has not made any positive progress since the previous session. Just the opposite. Today, the Azeris are carrying out large-scale construction works there. Does anyone have an idea what is being built there? What new dangers can these construction works create for our compatriots?” Anna Grigoryan, an Armenia bloc MP asked at today’s National Assembly session.

She said that in a situation, when the country is facing serious security problems and challenges, parliament should not be busy amending Tax Code or the Law on State Duty.

She said that local residents are abducted at in the area by Azeris after they set up a customs point there and that she had requested clarification from many departments, such as the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Service, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Police, about how the traffic would be organized on the mentioned road or what are the agreements, in general, on security.

“All these departments gave the same answer, saying that it is beyond their authority,” she said, adding that it means that “there are facts and realities kept secret.”

“Unfortunately, the people who said three years ago, ‘this country is ours’, today do not stand for the country or the people,” Grigoryan added.
