Constitutional Court accepts for hearing lawsuit challenging Alen Simonyan’s election

06.09.2021 | 19:20Armenia’s Constitutional Court has accepted for hearing the lawsuit filed by the opposition factions of the National Assembly to challenge the constitutionality of the decision on the election of National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.
The CC said the first hearing has been set for January 25, 2022 at 11:00. Yervand Khundkaryan has been appointed reporting judge, the National Assembly will be the defendant.
on August 3, the secretary of the Armenia faction in the National Assembly, Artsvik Minasyan, announced that they consider the election of the NA Speaker illegal and will apply to the Constitutional Court. The secretary of the I Have Honor faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, had announced that they would also challenge the process of electing the NA Speaker in the Constitutional Court.
