Azerbaijan showing interest in new CSTO PA format

Azerbaijan is showing interest in the new format of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly of the plans to establish an institution of partner states with consultative vote in the CSTO PA, the organization’s chairman, speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said.
“It is proposed to consider the issue of creating a new institution of partnership for the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. They will have the right to a consultative vote, participation in the preparation of documents and the development of collective decisions,” Volodin said at a meeting of the organization’s board. According to RIA Novosti, in a conversation with reporters after the meeting, Leonid Kalashnikov, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, said that many countries are interested in this new format, but called two of them – Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
