Georgian FM, Philip Reeker meet again, speak about return of Armenian captives through mediation of Tbilisi and Washington

29.06.2021 | 19:18During his visit to Rome, Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker, a Georgian Foreign Ministry statement says.
“During the meeting, Georgia’s strategic regional importance for the United States was reaffirmed, emphasizing the successful mediation of the Georgian Prime Minister between Azerbaijan and Armenia as a key step in ensuring stability and security,” the statement said.
On June 12, through the mediation of Georgia and the United States, Baku returned 15 Armenian prisoners of war to Armenia, in response to which Yerevan handed over the maps of the mined areas of Akna (Aghdam) region to the Azerbaijani side. The return of the captives was preceded by the visit of Reeker to the South Caucasus: Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
