Baku continues to investigate circumstances of shooting down Russian Mi-24 helicopter in Armenia

29.06.2021 | 17:00Azerbaijan has gathered facts and conducted examinations in connection with the damage to the Russian Mi-24 during the escalation in Nagorno Karabakh; the probe is under way, a press secretary for Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office has told RIA Novosti.
“On November 9, 2020, the Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a criminal case in connection with the crash of a Russian Mi-24 military helicopter belonging to Russia on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the Nakhichevan sector. Relevant examinations have been carried out, material evidence has been collected, as well as other necessary actions have been taken,” the press service said, adding that the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan will ensure the adoption of a legal decision in the case of the Russian helicopter.
The Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down in the airspace of Armenia, outside the zone of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, on November 9, 2020. The Russian Defense Ministry announced that two crew members were killed and one was seriously injured. Shortly after the incident, Azerbaijan admitted it shot down the Russian helicopter but said it was a mere accident and apologized for it.
