Hero of Artsakh Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan dies aged 81

31.03.2021 | 15:28Hero of Artsakh, Major-General Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan (Komandos) has died on March 31 at the age of 81. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of “Erebuni” medical center Shushan Hunanyan in a conversation with Factor.am.
Arkadi Ter-Tadevosyan was born on May 22, 1939, in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. He graduated from the Baku Military College, then from the Leningrad Military Academy of Transport and Rear. He served in the Soviet Army in Afghanistan, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Belarus. In 1988 he joined the hostilities for the liberation of Artsakh, took an active part in the military training of volunteers. In 1990 he became a member of the “David of Sassoun” volunteer detachment.
In 1991 he was appointed head of the military defense department of the RA Defense Committee. On October 30, 1991, the newly created Artsakh Self-Defense Forces liberated the strategically important village of Togh in the Hadrut region due to a military operation carried out under Ter-Tadevosyan. In May 1992, he took an active part in the preparations for the military operation to liberate the city of Shushi.
