We reiterate our position on impossibility of holding closed-door meetings – Statement by opposition factions

23.12.2021 | 13:18The National Assembly’s Armenia and I Have Honor factions have issued a joint statement, saying they consider the proposal to hold a closed-door meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan inexpedient.
“Taking into account the information in circulation, we inform that Alen Simonyan passed a proposal to the opposition factions to hold a closed-door meeting with Nikol Pashinyan. It should be reminded that back in October 2020, during the war, such meetings with Nikol Pashinyan took place, and they are still being manipulated and distorted by the latter.
During this period, the leadership has repeatedly proven that they ecretly conduct dubious negotiations behind the back of the people, pushing forward exclusively their own anti-national agenda. Any negotiation process is not in itself a state or military secret. The format of a closed-door meeting on issues related to the Armenian people is generally unacceptable, and a statement on such a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan has already been issued before.
Opposition factions have stated that they will take part in open and accountable to people meetings, which has been rejected. We reiterate our position on the impossibility of holding closed-door meetings,” the statement says.
