Troops withdrawal in Syunik was not on verbal instruction, but on memorandum signed by Armenian and Russian defense ministers
“MP Anna Grigoryan and I sent inquiries to the government, the National Security Service, the Ministry of Defense, the border troops, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister. Our main question was on what basis the Armenian troops withdrew in Syunik in 2020 leaving Syunik defenseless. After various evasions, we finally received a written response from the General Staff through cross-polling inquiries that there was a memorandum signed by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, on the basis of which an order to withdraw troops was issued,” MP Gegham Manukyan, a member of the Hayastan faction, told Factor.am.
He further said that Pashinyan has avoided a direct answer but in reality there is a document and that the operation that took place in Syunik was a blow to the security of Armenia, its territorial integrity, and the defense capacity of our people.
