They force us to take measures to assess the situation. I think such initiatives should be implemented by the government first of all,” Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the National Assembly’s Armenia faction, told reporters in the National Assembly today referring to the fact that today the Civil Contract party boycotted the opposition initiated special session, on the agenda of which was a draft on demarcation and delimitation issues.
Ohanyan said that the hearings on the demarcation and delimitation session in the National Assembly stem from the situation around Armenia and Artsakh.
“We are in a rather difficult military-political situation. With the involvement of mercenary terrorists initiated by Turkey and the criminal war unleashed by Azerbaijan, the territories of Artsakh have been occupied, and the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem has appeared within the borders of Armenia,” he said. He added that there is not a single person in Armenia who can say today where our borders cross.
“After joining the Soviet Union, Armenia’s borders have changed considerably over the years, and serious studies are needed to implement demarcation and delimitation.”
He said there are no real conditions for demarcation and delimitation, and if we do not tie them with Artsakh’s self-determination in one package, then a serious danger awaits the fate of Artsakh.
“Border demarcation and delimitation means a peace treaty, it means the recognition of mutual territorial integrity and it means recognizing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, also throwing a big stone at the fate of Artsakh,” he said, adding that the unblocking, without the necessary conditions, without accurate studies, will cause great damage to Armenia and Artsakh.
