Former chief of police banned from leaving country after being charged with several crimes

09.12.2021 | 20:13As reported earlier, former Chief of Armenian Police Vladimir Gasparyan has been charged with legalizing property worth over 2 bn drams (about US $4.1 mil.) received through criminal means and committing other criminal acts.
In particular, according to the indictment, Gasparyan and his family members received a total of AMD 353,249,428 (about US $728,000) as legal income during 1995-2021, but during 2005-2021, the expenses of Gasparyan’s family and persons affiliated with them exceeded the named amount several times making AMD 2,477,884,177 (about US $5 mil.).
As Factor.am was told by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee, as a precautionary measure, Gasparyan is under obligation not to leave the country.
