“The leaders discussed the general concern over the accumulation of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, as well as Russia’s tougher rhetoric,” the statement said. The White House says British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, US President Joe Biden, French President Emanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have called on Russia to “ease tensions” as the only solution to the conflict in Donbas through the implementation of the Minsk agreements. In addition, the parties stressed their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“They agreed to maintain close ties with their teams, including through consultations with NATO allies and EU partners on a coordinated and comprehensive approach,” the statement said.
