MEP: No security mechanism on Armenian-Azerbaijani border

There is no security mechanism on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, MEP Petras Auštrevičius said during the exchange of views on the 44-day war in the European Parliament.
“It seems to me that this is like a football game, but the referee regularly goes from one side to the other. And that referee has a clear name – Russia. It pretends to be a referee, but it is not. It depends on the stage of the game. And if we are serious, we must talk about security mechanisms on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. There is no security mechanism there. If we are serious, we believe in meaningful foreign policy, then we must think about our common security, defense policy,” he said.
