Why Azerbaijan was not invited to Democracy Summit

18.11.2021 | 19:19The Biden administration is preparing for the Democracy Summit, the first of its kind, a gathering of governments, civil society and the private sector to “work together for democratic renewal around the world,” US Deputy Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya has said.
In response to the Azerbaijani news agency Turan question whether the list of previously invited countries, published in the media, is final, or there is still time for countries like Azerbaijan, Zeya said that “established and developing democracies” have been invited but “when cooperating with governments, the agenda in the field of democracy and human rights is not limited to that summit. In multilateral relations, we have many opportunities to work with governments around the world to advance this agenda.”
