25.10.2021 | 13:24The 2022 defense budget is 11% more than what was planned in 2021; it is more than 345 billion drams, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today addressing the cabinet meeting.
“We will move towards creating a professional army. The Republic of Armenia will develop the armed forces not for aggression purposes, but to protect the country from aggression. Armenia does not intend to conquer territories,” Pashinyan said.
He said that, in terms of the development of the security system, it is possible not only to modernize the defense capabilities of the army, but also to create a favorable external environment for Armenia, with the consistent implementation of the agenda of opening a peaceful era for Armenia, Artsakh and the region.
“We see this through overcoming the atmosphere of hostility in our region, through the resumption of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing talks for the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and the unblocking of the regional economic and transport infrastructure,” he explained.
