20 cases of pressure on media, 3 cases of physical violence in third quarter in Armenia, NGO says

“The third quarter of 2021 was a very worrying period for journalists and the media, especially in terms of imposing new restrictions,” Ashot Melikyan, Chairman of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression, told a news conference today.
“During this period, there were three cases of physical violence against journalists, 20 cases of pressure on the media and their employees, 37 violations of the right to receive and disseminate information,” he said. “During the period under review, we have registered 15 new lawsuits against journalists, media outlets, most of which are by officials and state bodies,” Melikyan said, adding that this is also a worrying figure.
