We are concerned with inflation rates – minister of economy
ECONOMY
21.10.2021 | 19:14The overall inflation is 8.9 percent, but food inflation is higher; we are, of course, very worried, Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan told reporters today.
“The result of our work should be people living better, and inflation, we can say, consumes most of the work we do, we must fight against it. In other words, we must try to curb inflation with the instruments we have. Of course, the central bank uses its own instruments but sometimes they damage very important sectors of our economy, such as exports. You know that the exchange rate is now at its lowest point in recent years, and it worries us and our exporters. In cooperation with the Central Bank in the fight against inflation, we expect that the Central Bank will not allow potential sectors of the economy to be endangered. We are in constant consultations with our partner countries, both the EEU member states and other countries, such as Ukraine and the South American countries, to provide our businesses with low-priced goods and raw materials, which will help reduce inflation.”
