18.10.2021 | 20:09Russia must first fulfill its obligations under the 2008 ceasefire agreement, and then talk about creating new platforms, including the so-called “3 + 3” platform, said US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who is in Georgia, commenting on the possibility of creating a new “3 + 3” regional platform, accentnews.ge reported.
“I can say about the ‘3 + 3’ format that Russia, which has occupied 20 percent of Georgia’s territory, should focus on respecting the 2008 ceasefire agreement before talking about any new platforms,” Austin said at the joint news conference with the Georgian defense minister.
The “3 + 3” platform, which is expected to include Russia, Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan, is a new regional project actively promoted by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke about the possibility of its creation.
