Former president’s trial postponed

05.10.2021 | 20:16The trial of former President Robert Kocharyan and MP Armen Gevorgyan, a former deputy prime minister, continues in a Yerevan court.
Armen Gorgyan’s lawyer, Lusine Sahakyan, submitted a motion for recognition of his immunity. The court postponed the examination of Armen Gorgyan’s issue of recognition of immunity until a relevant decision of the Constitutional Court is made.
Kocharyan and Gevorgyan are charged to receiving a large bribe; Gorgyan is also charged with money laundering. Kocharyan is charged with taking a $ 3 million bribe, while Gorgyan is charged with taking a $ 1 million bribe.
