The Russian Ministry of Justice has included Mediazona in its list of media outlets recognized as foreign agents, BBC Russian Service reported. In addition, it included the organization Zona Prava, which deals with the assistance of prisoners, and the editor-in-chief of Mediazona, Sergey Smirnov, and the publisher, Pyotr Verzilov, were included in the list of foreign agents. The ministry also included the OVD-Info portal, which helps those arrested during protests, in the register of unregistered public associations that act as foreign agents.
Mediazona and OVD-Info intend to continue the work, despite the status of a foreign agent.
