The trial of the former mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, and the mayor of Karahunj, Lusine Avetyan, opened today in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Syunik province.
At the beginning of the court session, Arushanyan’s lawyers moved to have Arushanyan released on bail citing that all the witnesses have already been questioned, so the defendant is not able to influence them. The motion was turned down.
Arushanyan, who ran on the ticket of the Armenia bloc in the past parliamentary election, is standing trial on vote buying charges.
