10% of the world’s population has antibodies to coronavirus: WHO reports

01.03.2021 | 12:20Less than 10% of the world’s population has developed COVID antibodies, WHO researcher Soumya Swaminathan reports. According to her, vaccination is the only way to gain herd immunity.
“Of course, in some places, for example, in densely populated urban areas, there are outbreaks in which 50-60% of the population has been exposed to the virus and has antibodies. However, this does not mean that an entire city, region, state or country has reached the level of herd immunity”, Swaminathan said in a video posted on Twitter by the WHO.
In early February, the WHO reported that the number of people vaccinated against COVID in the world exceeded the number of infected, with the majority of those vaccinated in ten countries.
