Armenia’s Declaration of Independence turns 31

31 years ago, on this day, the first session of the Supreme Council of Armenia adopted the Declaration of Independence of Armenia, marking the beginning of the process of statehood. Immediately after the adoption of the Declaration, by the decision of the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR, the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic was renamed the Republic of Armenia, and the current Supreme Council of the twelfth convocation became the Supreme Council of the first convocation of the Republic of Armenia.
