Ararat Mirzoyan appointed foreign minister

19.08.2021 | 12:01Armenian President Armen Sargsyan has appointed Ararat Mirzoyan Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to this appointment, Ararat Mirzoyan was the speaker of the 7th National Assembly.
Mirzoyan was born in Yerevan on November 23, 1979. He graduated from Yerevan State University, Faculty of History in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree, and was granted a master’s degree from the same faculty in 2002. In 2004, he raduated from the Academy of Public Administration as a specialist in public administration and local self-government. In 2005, he graduated from the post-graduate course of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, receiving the degree of Candidate of Historical Sciences.
During his career, Mirzoyan has worked for the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, National Archives of Armenia, Regnum International News Agency, International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), Aurora Prize and 100 Lives initiative, among others.
In 2017, he was elected National Assembly member, in 2017, became deputy speaker of parliament and in 2019-2021, he was the speaker of the National Assembly.
Mirzoyan is a founding member of the Civil Contract party, established in 2016.
Married, with two children.
