Turkey is trying to engage Pakistan in regional processes, and that’s dangerous- expert
Turkey is trying to engage Pakistan in regional processes, and that is very dangerous, National Academy of Sciences member Ruben Safrastyan told a news conference today, speaking about the recent visit of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Pakistan to Shushi.
The expert reminded that Pakistan is the only country that has not recognized Armenia so far, that country is Turkey’s military partner, which in turn provided serious support to Azerbaijan during the war in Artsakh. According to the expert, Pakistan has serious disagreements with Iran, India, brings the burden of these problems to the region, and this is the second danger. The third circumstance is that Turkey has chosen Pakistan for cooperation because Pakistan can help Turkey acquire some nuclear technology, such as Chinese military technology, which China does not give to Turkey, but gives to Pakistan.
He also said that Baku and Ankara are in a hurry. During the war, Turkey did not get the results it had hoped for. By inciting that war, Turkey aimed to create a situation where joint Russian-Turkish peacekeeping forces would be deployed around Artsakh, that is, the model as in Syria , but the Russians did not go for it, did not allow it. Turkey calculated that these joint patrols would be able to enter Armenia. The ultimate goal of Turkish diplomacy is not only Artsakh, but also Armenia. To weaken the sovereignty and statehood of the Republic of Armenia as much as possible; to make Armenia, as an independent state, cease to exist and become a vassal of Turkey. I am convinced that this is Turkey’s far-reaching goal. The Turks did not get what they planned, now they are trying to snatch as much as possible from Armenia through Azerbaijan, he said. He said Armenia is recovering, that is why Turkey and Ankara are in a hurry.
