Criminal case launched against Azeri servicemen

On July 28, 2012, between 03:30 and 03:50, a group of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, intentionally violating the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, in order to separate and occupy part of the territory of the Republic of Armenia. In the border area of Verin Shorzha-Sotk settlements, violence was used against the RA Armed Forces servicemen, during which two or more people were deliberately shot at the RA Armed Forces with artillery and firearms, motivated by national, racial or religious hatred or religious fanaticism. One of the protected bases was captured, as a result of which serviceman of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense, senior lieutenant Hayk Gevorgyan, conscripts, private Davit Kocharyan, Koryun Harutyunyan died from gunshot wounds and shrapnel wounds. Servicemen and privates received various degrees of gunshot wounds and shrapnel wounds. The RA Investigative Committee informs. In connection with the incident, the criminal case initiated by the RA Criminal Prosecutor’s Office under Article 300.2, Article 104, Part 2, Items 1, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Investigation Department was accepted by the Fifth Garrison Investigation Division of the RA Investigation Committee.
