The trial of Davit Davtyan and Gevorg Sujyan is underway in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes. Azerbaijani media reported that the prosecutor alleged that the defendants have illegally crossed the state border illegally, collected military information, passed it to the special services of Armenia and engaged in espionage. It was also mentioned that the Armenian captives were allegedly recruited by the Armenian special services in 2019, and in 2020 they penetrated the territory of Azerbaijan from Syunik. They are charged under Articles 228 (illegal possession of weapons), 279 (creation of armed groups), 318 (illegal crossing of the state border), 276 (espionage) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. The judge explained that if the charges are confirmed, the Armenian captives face up to 15 years in prison.

Gevorg Sujyan, one of the Armenian captives, testified that he had set up a charity organization, helped people in Artsakh, and did not cooperate with special services.

New Armenia-Homeland-Diaspora Charity founder and president Sujyan and Davtyan were taken prisoner on the Berdzor-Shushi road after the ceasefire was established.
