Under the new 5-year program of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership, Armenia will receive 1 billion euros in addition to the 1․6 billion euros, making the total investment package of the European Union in Armenia 2.6 billion euros, Mane Adamyan, an advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, told Factor TV.

She said that the EU Commissioner, who is in Yerevan on an official visit, announced today that in addition to the 1.6 billion euro assistance provided to Armenia through various financial instruments under the Joint Economic and Investment Plan developed as part of the Eastern Partnership, an additional 1 billion euros will be mobilized from other sources.

In a joint statement with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varheliy said that the EU remains a key partner for Armenia in both reform and other areas.

“I appreciate the commitment of the government to continue these reforms. These are possible reforms for Europe to see, for the people of Armenia to see. I welcome free and fair elections in Armenia. I hope that soon there will be a strong government, a strong parliament, a parliamentary majority in Armenia, because we have a lot to do,” said the EU official.
