The parties also talk about the role of Georgia in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the report says.
“We discussed regional security issues. I want to emphasize that the role that Georgia now has in the region, helping Azerbaijan and Armenia to overcome the consequences of hostilities and start negotiations, is impressive for NATO. This is an exceptional role that only Georgia can play, it does it in a really creative and energetic way,” Appathurai said. He added that they see how Georgia helps Azerbaijan and Armenia to have a dialogue with each other. “We are happy and grateful for that.”
