Former top military official charged with state secrets disclosure

01.07.2021 | 13:23The former head of the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s Military Control Service, Movses Hakobyan, has been charged with disclosing state secrets at a news conference.
According to the National Security Service, Hakobyan, who due to his top position and long-term service had full access to the information constituting state secret, speaking at a news conference on on November 19, 2020, disclosed information about armaments, long-term forecasts of military equipment, development programs, as well as programs for the use of the armed forces, other troops, civil defense forces, operative programs, revealed documents on combat management and other top secret military information.
The Service said that given the sufficient combination of evidence obtained in the case, Hakobyan is accused for committing a crime stipulated in Part 1 of Article 306 of the Armenian Criminal Code, and that a measure of restraint has been chosen for him.
