Belarusian opposition journalist Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend Sofia Sapega have been move to house arrest from jail. They were arrested in May after a Ryanair plane landed in Minsk on its way from Athens to Vilnius.

Yesterday, photos appeared on the Telegram channels, in which Protasevich and Sapega give an interview in the park. Sapega is now alone in a rented apartment in Minsk, his parents told the BBC. They saw Sapega yesterday. According to the parents, Sofia has been under house arrest for 2-3 days already.

“Of course, we are glad that she is not in prison, they are completely different living conditions. We did not particularly believe in it. Sofia is still in a positive mood,” said Sapega’s stepfather. He hopes that all the accusations against the girl will be removed. Roman Protasevich has been moved to house arrest, his father Dmitry Protasevich told the BBC.

“I find it difficult to comment on the actions of the authorities, I cannot say what their goals are. “Maybe it is a political game,” he added.
