London Bridge station evacuated as armed police storm train in ’emergency’

London Bridge train station was evacuated by police with “multiple helicopters” seen hovering over the transport hub on Wednesday. British Transport Police (BTP) say they were called to the station at 12.33 pm on April 21 following reports of a suspicious item on board a train. One Twitter user wrote: “Strange scenes at London. The police are everywhere evacuating the station and forcing people off the platforms.
“Londoners typically demanding the police to tell them why they can’t get a train to where they want to get to. Multiple helicopters in the sky above.”
Another person reported seeing armed police at the scene, while others have also spotted sniffer dogs. The station has been closed as a precaution while specialist officers assess the item.
